Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born on March 26, 1991 often referred to professionally under the other name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the first female artist signing to J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. Her first EP, Pho was released on the 21st of October, 2016 and was released on Dreamville Records. She began to gain fame. Shea Butter Baby her debut studio album came out on May 7th 2019. Ari Lennox first released music online in 2012. She released her debut album Ariography as well as her debut mixtape in 2013, the mixtape Five Finger Discount. The year 2014 saw Ari Lennox release her single Bound, as well as her self-released mixtape Five Finger Discount. On July 21 2015 Omen featured her on his album Elephant Eyes on the track Sweat It Out. J. Cole had her sing her songs in the direction of his Dreamville Team later in the year because he was hoping for Rihanna to be able work alongside her on some of the songs. In December 2008, it was announced that Rihanna was hired by Dreamville Records. Backseat is one of the songs she recorded with Cozz to record the collaboration album Revenge of the Dreamers II. On October 21, 2016 her EP Pho was released. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening act to J. Cole on his single Change in 2017 and also appeared on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. In 2018 she guest-starred on two tracks with her labelmates EarthGang in the video for Nothing but the Best. and Bas in Icarus. The 16th of July, 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single, Whipped Cream of her album debut Shea Butter Baby with an accompanied music video on the 5th of September. Then on the 9th November, she released another two singles, titled 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). Then on the 13th of November two singles, titled No One and Pedigree. She then appeared in the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on the track Shea Butter Baby on November 16 and released as a single in February, 2019 for her debut album of the same title. This track, which was released with a video on YouTube February 20, 2019 has been watched over 3 million times in the first 7 days. The singer was a part of the 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour back in December of the year 2018.
