Selena
She broke down barriers within the music business as a singer, performer and designer. The dual nature of her role as the Mexican American star was both traditional and contemporary. She introduced Tejano into the mainstream through her ingenuity. Similar to how many people mourn a star who passed away from their prime, the death of her was not a good time and ended the progress of her career. Fans have struggled over the years in order to keep her legacy alive. Her tragic death in a shooting provoked a response from the Latino Community, similar as the reaction to deaths of Elvis Presley or John Lennon. Selena was a hugely well-known Latino singer throughout North America. Her music transcended boundaries and brought joy to younger and more mature adults. Selena was an asexual, flamboyant performer on stage that was frequently known as her as the Latina Madonna. On stage, Selena was an outstanding role model, as she was active in anti-drug and AIDS campaigns.
